Costa Rican fashion designer specialized in manual and natural techniques. Her experience in complete productions has allowed her to work together with other brands and designers of Costa Ricans in advising and developing collections. Her passion for keeping leisure alive and the importance of knowing the entire process of creating garments, her love for fashion, and what lies behind each garment leads her to become, in addition to being a designer, a dressmaking teacher at one of the Fashion Design University in Costa Rica. She founded her Selfmade brand in 2019; however, in the experimentation of that first year, she recognized her love for manual practices and decided to make a significant turn for the brand in the implementation and work only with natural textiles, natural dyeing processes, and manual embroidery. She has collaborated as a lecturer in government institutions such as the National Learning Institute in Costa Rica, where she has given training in textiles and natural dyes to teachers in the textile area of this institution. In turn, she has participated in exhibitions aimed at SMEs in which her desire to rescue the value of what is done by hand and the magic of nature and natural dyes have reached most of the population.

In 2020, she founded a manual embroidery workshop aimed at other Costa Rican brands and designers, her odyssey to obtain raw material in the country has taught her to invent and create new ways of taking advantage of what you get; This is why, when creating her embroidery workshop, she decides to put it at the service of the other colleagues in order to expand the supply of material to the market. Nicole's passion focuses on every process created with her hands, her desire to rescue the value of these techniques and taking them from generation to generation have helped her create many ways to be able to teach and train new professionals in the textile and fashion area in Costa Rica.

We are a Costa Rican brand with a 100% Made in Costa Rica seal; located in the province of Heredia but made up of a part of each of the other 6 provinces that shape our territory. Between its collaborators and the collection of raw material to dye our textiles we are creating a set of elements from each geographically different point that are later joined in a single garment. In the year 2019 with a desire to rescue the importance and value of manual work, we created, with a little bit from our land and our heart, the Selfmade brand.

The focus of the brand has been to be able to produce in a conscious way throughout the chain that makes up the brand, maintaining fair conditions and pay for our collaborators, with textiles and dyeing methods that are as environmentally friendly as possible, so that even waste can be disposed of no problem or reuse. We discover the magic of ora cultivated in different areas of the country with climates different and therefore the pigments obtained also present variations, this seemed wonderful to us and we decided to take it as part of ours, in the end each piece carries the essence of Costa Rica and with pride we emphasize that wealth that our land gives us.

Our desire is to keep entertainment alive that has been lost over the years and restore its meaning to the fashion that it has told stories in each garment and, with this, express ourselves. We emphasize the value of manual embroidery in the importance of quality, appreciation, and wonder surrounding it. Our group of collaborators is made up of heads of households who, thanks to these jobs, can support themselves and their families; in the same way, we are accompanied by young dreamers who seek to become independent through their work with manual leisure. We rescue the concept of garments created by humans for humans, we do not overproduce, and we respect the times of creation of each piece and the human work capacity. In a world where everything seems to be in a hurry, we try to show the importance of pause, time, and patience. To enjoy every minimal part and every small detail, in the end, all this is what gives life to the enormous. We faithfully believe that the hands impregnate magic and tell a story in each of the clothes you will wear. We admire the history that has shaped you today; that's why we created garments that tell one to you.
